The auction is live in Stripe test mode. A paid deposit holds the key for review. Vinyl is printed only if you still hold that key when the clock ends.
Mostly by muscle memory. The logo sits on the cap; a small original symbol stays in the bottom-right (⌘, ⌥, and the other named keys keep the icon only, not the word). Return and the arrows are left stock. Backlight on a branded key is still blocked.
A square icon for letter keys and the palm rests — we pull that from your site. Wide keys (spacebar, tab, both shifts, delete, caps) need a horizontal lockup: mark and name on one line, PNG or JPEG, transparent if you can. No exact pixel size.
A 20% deposit (minimum $10) in USD on Stripe when you bid, refunded if you’re outbid, refused, or the charge is reversed. The thank-you page is not confirmation — Stripe’s webhook is. Marks stay off the keyboard until I approve them. Winners pay the remaining 80% by invoice. Vinyl is printed only if you win.
Almost. I approve every mark by hand. It travels with me. Refused bids get the deposit back.

Creator of keycap.bid. I build in public and I'm just getting started with indie hacking. This one is simple: I'm funding my first MacBook by renting out its keys.
